Makah Mission Trip – Day 0
Well… It’s finally here. I’m leaving in about 9 hours on my first ever missions trip. I have been mentally preparing myself for this for a while now and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for me. It feels pretty crazy to be taking, what will likely be, the last week of snowboarding for this year off of work and not be riding. Even crazier, I’m not bummed about it. I’m really excited for this oportunity and feel so blessed to have had the season I’ve had (given the crapy snow we had this year). I was fortunate enough to get exactly 25 days of riding in, and I’m closing out the season INJURY FREE!!! (knock on wood). It’s always sad for me to see this season end, but I really enjoy looking back and reflecting on the progression my friends and I made over the season.
With that said, here is a video of Mahayla McFadden that her dad made. She and her parents are my snowboard family and I feel so blessed to have them in my life (well 4 months out of the year). They’re the type of people you love to be around because they really love life and live it like the gift it is. Mahayla was 7 years old this year and it blows my mind to see how good she’s becoming.
Even though it seems like my snowboarding season is over, and that is a big deal, it isn’t the reason I started this post tonight. I do try to talk a little bit about snowboarding on this blog, but the main focus here and in my life is God. This missions trip is a big deal for me and I’m ready to dive into it 100%. I really hope we have the opportunity to make an impact on the Makah community and just be able to share Jesus’ love with them. I’m planning on keeping a journal while I’m up there so I can update this blog when I get free time or when I get home a week from tomorrow. Please be praying for myself and the other 30+ individuals going on this trip.

It’s really hard sending this kind of letter (for lack of better words) over the internet but it’s been on my heart for a very long time and I feel it’s time to put my thoughts on paper (well computer).
I was just thinking over high school and wondering what kind of people we were going to become. Let me tell you, I never thought we were going to become the people we are today! Just reading your blog and getting a glimpse into your life has been fun. It’s funny to think that the friends you thought you would be close to forever are the easiest to loose contact with. I’m glad you’re doing well and that God has truly gotten a hold of your life!
I don’t want this email to be weird so I’ll keep it short. Just wanted to say hi and to give you mad props on putting yourself out there on the world wide web. I pray that God gives you strength to push through your fears and to face them full on!
I was sitting in church today and the topic was all about giving, not only of your money but of your prayers, words of encouragement, thoughts, whatever it may be. The funny part is, just reading over my notes from the service I had written that I wanted to be more available to say what was on my mind and to encourage those I haven’t been in contact with. It’s funny how God works because I was on face book today, you’re name and a few others popped up on a list of people I haven’t spoken to in a long time. So when I clicked on your name this blog came up. It was funny because I was reading the blog about failure and how you did some trick and it didn’t go as planned. It brought me back to the memory of when we went snowboarding and I was so scared to just get off the lift and you were the closest thing and we both came down. lol! anyway that blog was really encouraging and I want to encourage you to keep growing and facing those fears head on.
anyway there is my 2 cents, like you needed it anyway:). Well hope life is treating you well and this new mission in life brings good things your way. I think when it comes to mission trips you always come home the one changed! Yes the things you do when you’re there are amazing and God’s word is being spread but the thing I have discovered is that you always come home stronger
and better equipped to reach the world around you. You will never be the same after helping someone in need! Blessing on your journey to Makah and I pray you return home safe!

Missi!
Its been so long since i’ve heard from you! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. It definitely helped this morning. I woke up with a terrible headache, turned to my phone and your comment was the first thing I saw. Just the jump start I needed! Thanks again and I’ll be in touch more when I don’t have to use a phone keyboard
Thanks again!
